Author's Notes:

Who Is Yuki Dainichi? - This is pretty much just an amalgamation of various Japanese movie ideas that I thought were cool. Zatoichi (or rather, Robert Rodriguez's take on Zatoichi in Once Upon A Time In Mexico, with Johnny Depp's character) was a big influence, even though my main character was neither actually blind, nor did she use a sword. Having her as a sort of mascot for a military project came from, of all places, the anime Mao-Chan, which I hadn't even seen for myself at the time.

The main structure of the story came from Rashomon, which I also haven't seen, and yes, I do know that it was a book first. I wanted to write a story about a character, but where we never really see anything through that character's eyes - we only see her through the eyes of the other characters.

If this series were ever to be made into an actual comic, Yuki's (or Artemis's) sections would ideally be illustrated in a way similar to the way Sin City is done.

Metamorphosis - A story I wrote for a couple different Halloween story contests, though it didn't really come close to winning any of them. The biggest problem I had with the story was trying to figure out what the superhero name should be. There were a couple that were shorter than what I ended up going with, but that looked too similar to Nympho, or something like that.

If this series were ever to be made into an actual comic, Yuki's Nymphalidae's sections would ideally be illustrated in a semi-manga style, though I don't really have any specific examples to point to.

Hammer Lock - This story was written for the first Short Story Contest on the AB/DL Story Forum. I forget what I was watching at the time, but whatever it was made me want to write something in a semi-noir style. I guess I had also seen Casino Royale, which is why it is set in a casino, around a poker game, which I did quite a bit of research for, even though I have no idea if anyone actually uses those terms in real life.

My favorite part of this story, though, is that it's in future tense. I'd written plenty of stories in past and present, but I wanted to see if it was possible to actually do one in future.

If this series were ever to be made into an actual comic, Nina's (as that is her actual name) sections would ideally be illustrated in an old-school American comics style, like Jack Kirby's stuff. Which probably seems odd from this particular story, but does make sense with her other stories, I promise.
