For any comments on the story.

Author's Notes: The basic idea for this story was one that I wanted to do for quite a while, but had never gotten around to. Basically, in the beginning, it was just going to be a story about a new girl in school who finds out another girl wears diapers, teases her about it, and then, in essence, gets "trapped" into continuing to be mean to her about it for fear of losing her "friends".

By the time I had finished enough of my other story ideas that I could get to this one, it was almost Christmas, and I nearly passed this story up, wanting to do something holiday themed, until I realized that I could do it as a Christmas Carol sort of thing, with the main character as a kind of Scrooge. My first version of that plan was mostly the same as the story turned out to be, except for the future section, which I was going to have be her as an old woman, and in diapers again just because of age. But that didn't have any real kind of resonance with the rest of the story, nor was there any real point to it, other than to show her that she was in diapers when she was little and would be again when she was old, so why make fun of someone who wore them in between? Luckily, I figured out something different, which works much, much better.

I have no idea where the old pets angle came from. At first I thought that maybe just the Marley character would be one, but then I thought of Dr. Fishenstein's entrance (and his name), and it all fell into place from there. The fortune that is referenced at the beginning of the story, and is the origin of the ghost of the future, is one that I really got in a fortune cookie, maybe a month before I wrote the story.
